My dream of bringing together my diverse activities under one roof has come to an end: Rasheed22 is no more. It used to be ‘my’ coworking space with a mission in the heart of Heliopolis!
I define a coworking space as being a habitat for social innovators and (other) entrepreneurs, where they can come to work, learn and ‘play’, as part of the global network of people working to make a difference.
The vision is to provide spaces for people who do things differently and realize ideas that might just change the world. In Cairo, we envision to provide a different type of day care service, too, for accompanying children.
My previous activities were continued in one way or the other, under the roof of Rasheed22.
Until September 2010 I was managing Buzzy Bee preschool in Heliopolis, a Cairo suburb with one century of history as a place where people from different ethnic and religious backgrounds peacefully live together. Buzzy Bee would work in accordance with the Reggio approach, and practice inclusion.
We would provide family & community services besides being a day-care provider for children from age 3 months to 5 years.
The cooperation with ZKM e.V., Munich, is solidifying, and the plan is to build a network of educators working already with the KIKUS method in Egypt, and offering support to foster truly multilingual education.
Other things I still like to do is to freelance as a facilitator & moderator, host gatherings based on The Art of Hosting philosophy (being one of the emerging stewarding group in Egypt), and organise hiking trips to the Sinai mountains for children and families.
The biggest project, other than Rasheed22 in itself, is to get mini-medina off the ground and bring a group of about 10 Egyptian children to mini-munich, in August 2014! Read more on the project’s website http://minimedina.wordpress.com
